Los
Originales de Ritmo y Sabor
Los Angeles, California, U.S.A.
Directed by Amelia Zacarias and Jorge Rivas-Plata
Los
Originales de Ritmo y Sabor is a Los Angeles based dance group that
is characterized for their originality, rhythm and flavor. As members
of Ritmo y Sabor Dance Studio, founded by Carmen Bambaren in 1990. Los
Originales de Ritmo y Sabor were the first dance group in Los Angeles,
with experience in all tropical rhythms and styles such as, Salsa, Merengue,
Cha Cha Cha, Punta etc. Los Originales is one of the most complete groups
in Los Angeles.
With the guidance of Carmen Bambaren, many great dancers
have passed through Los Originales de Ritmo y Sabor, like Rudy Zales (Royalty
Salsa), Alfredo Figueroa (Salsoneros), Miguel Aguirre (Candela Pura),
Jimmy Arana and Victor Acordagoitia (DJ Rumbero) just to mention a few.
Now, Ritmo y Sabor Dance Studio consists of two dance
groups, Ritmo y Sabor Dance Company and "Los Orginales de Ritmo y
Sabor". You may ask why "Los Orginales de Ritmo y Sabor"?
Well, this is because our group is composed mainly of the original dancers
that started with Ritmo y Sabor Dance Studio back in the 90's. Currently
Amelia Zacarias, Carmen's sister and one of the original members of Ritmo
y Sabor Dance Studio, is in charge of Los Originales de Ritmo y Sabor,
and with her leadership and charisma, is taking Los Originales de Ritmo
y Sabor to the next level. The basic idea of having fun, friendship, be
the best that you can be, and preservation and enjoyment of these beautiful
dances and rhythms are the trade mark that make Los Originales and Ritmo
y Sabor Dance Studio truly an original.

Positive
Energy
San Diego, California, U.S.A.
Directed by Michael and Camille.
Michael Saltus, a navy brat, realized as a child how
to adapt to each new environment his family moved into. This would help
create the very outgoing personality he now has. As a child he would find
discipline and a stong work ethic in the farm country. Here breaking horses
would teach him balance later used for sports and dancing. But the most
important reason he feels has helped him in his journey into the dance
world is hitting the gym. The hard work and long hours here has given
him a healthier life style and kept him injury free. It has also enabled
him to play three sports in high school, two in college and dance still
today. All the team experiences has taught him a lot with growth of his
own dance company.......He would start dancing Western Jitterbug at the
end of high school and into college. Thus, being introduced for the first
time to tricks and lifts. While playing football and track for the Griz
at the University of Montana, Michael started taking jazz for flexibility
and balance. The UofM would also bring him a BA in Psychology and start
him with his other passion, acting. It wasn't until he moved to San Diego
that he started dancing and performing with the Pacific Repertoire Jazz
and Ballet Company, here he learned par a deu (ballet partnering). It
was also at this time he would venture more into acting and modeling.
Over the next few years he would be with several different acting agencies.
Experiencing student and independent films and commercials.......By 2000,
he had given all these dances including ballroom a chance but it was salsa
that would match his true energy and passion. His first night meeting
Camille Yannantuono in a club was all it took to realize they fit. They
would start competing and dancing daily and are still going strong today.
Michael wanted to learn and grow from others so he joined several teams.
Rumba Rica in 2002, followed by Majesty in Motion 2003 and Son y Pasos
2004. He would learn the philosophies and styles from each director for
dancing on 1 and on 2........It wasn't until 2005 Michael and his partner
Camille would start their own company, Positive Energy Dance. The company
currently performs salsa as well as fusion of salsa with-Waltz, Argentina
Tango, Swing, hip-hop and others. Positive Energy is one the largest Salsa
Companies in San Diego with a total of 30 members and 5 choreographers.
+Energy is also one of top performing companies with over 200 shows in
less than 2 years. |
